Waste Less is a zero-waste publication, a book created and bound from one piece of paper that uses all of it’s offcuts in it’s assembly.

w/ Sara Gibson Lopez

It is driven by the idea that the method of ‘use, make, dispose’ is unacceptable aiming to encourage creatives to take ownership of the waste they produce in their practice.

This poster shows how the book is made from one sheet of B1 Paper, cut down and folded.

We primarily interviewed Kingston Alumni who created work around sustainable production during their time on the course. We wanted to know how this impacted their practice and what does working ‘sustainably’ look like now?

We found that while emphasis has been placed upon the importance of sustainability during our time in education, we want to gain an accurate perspective on how much sustainable production is prioritised outside of the university bubble.

The materiality of the book is a vehicle for discussion, the papers made from waste materials, Ecofonts used and printed using sustainable methods.

Many folds were explored before settling on the final design.

WORK
SHOP

On behalf on Kingston University we were able to collaborate with students from UAL, printing a small run of 60 copies with them and then inviting them over to Kingston, having a workshop where both students from UAL and Kingston could cut up and take home their own 'Waste Less' book.
