Created in the UK’s third national lockdown, (Feb-April 2021) we crafted a series of messages designed to encourage connection in a time of disconnection.

The elderly population were one of the groups most severely effected by the pandemic. Many were isolated unable to receive any visitors for months for fear of catching the virus. ‘Call Your Nan’ serves as a gentle reminder, sending personal reminders in a public space.
We wanted to create something that was tangible in a world gone digital. We found the crafted nature of each piece, gave it a deeper sense of authenticity, opening up a conversation around the phrase.
Memorialising these messages, we created postcards. The public became personal again as strangers anonymously received a reminder through their letterbox.
In collaboration with type designer Liz Giles, following the lockdown, we wanted to continue our message. As people returned to the streets we met them there with typographic risoprinted posters asking only one thing.
